From Our President

This year marks our 18th year for the Cancer Care Foundation of Brevard. Over the years, the members of the Board have contributed endless hours towards their mission to raise money to assist under and uninsured patients in Brevard and Indian River counties. The board understands both the financial and emotional pressures that patients must endure during their cancer treatments and through their dedication and the thoughtful contributions from Brevard and Indian County residents; they have been able to provide aid to thousands of patients.

With both our fathers being diagnosed with cancer and both surviving, my Husband Don and I wanted to get more involved. I joined the foundation in 2003 after losing two very close friends (like sisters to me) to cancer, both in their mid 40’s. But as a result of these traggic losses, and as we continued to experience more family, friends, friends of family and co-workers touched by cancer, our perspective on life changed and “the bar was raised” with regards to my dedication to the mission of the Foundation. I have experienced, first hand, what a family goes thru during the treatment of cancer. My family and friends were fortunate enough to have the insurance needed to help pay for the treatments. But what about those do not have insurance or are under insured? The utilities, the rent, the mortgage, these bills don’t stop while you are going through treatment. The need for help continues and the numbers continue to get larger.

The Cancer Care Center Foundation (CCCF) provides assistance with utilities, rent (mortgages), medical supplies and medical transportation for patients undergoing cancer treatment. Our budget provides that 98% of funds raised goes directly to the patients needing assistance and their families. We are fortunate to have very little overhead as CCCF is run strictly by a volunteer Board of Directors. It is my pleasure to say thank you to the foundation’s board of directors for their continued hard work and support. I would also like to thank our partners in the community who continue to financially support us. With your help we are able to financially support cancer patients by helping them meet the basic needs of themselves and their families.
